Betta fish called as “The Siamese Fighting
Fish” or we have called “Plakat” which was found in the Mekong River that runs
through a number of countries in south-east Asia.
The Siamese
fighting fish or plakat is native/original from the Mekong River delta in
south-east Asia and although fish today can be found by naturally in Laos,
Myanmar and Cambodia, it is originated from Thailand.
The Siamese
fighting fish or plakat named by Thai “ikan betta”, which means biting fish.
The Siamese fighting fish is known for its irritable temperament display to
other fish or smaller species of fish and often display very aggressive to any
other animals that it sees.
All the Siamese
fighting fish or plakat are small fishes but they will range under 8cm
considerably.
Betta fishes is
very easy to recognized due to its beautiful colors and bright, its body shape
and its behavior display. After 2-3 months we can identify which one is betta
males and which one is betta females.

Betta Males have long dorsal on the top, no
white eggs spot ventral and caudal fins longer than betta females.

Betta Females have short dorsal, have white eggs
spot ventral and caudal fins shorter than betta males (Betta females look not
so aggressive like betta males when display)

“Colors” Betta males looks brighter than betta
females (Betta females bright blue)

“Body shape” Betta males looks thin and long
(Betta female fate and have short body)

“Bobble nest” Betta males will make a lots of
bobble when they are ready for breeding (Some of betta females will also make
bobble but it’s not much)

Betta males will have longer beard than betta
females.
The “Diet” betta fish like to eat insects such as daphnia, mosquito larvae and worm are smaller than. They are also can eat pullet food but if you choose to feed them with pullet food you should take note don’t feed them too much if not the water will be dirty and your fish also can sick.
Betta fish like
to live in water with 26-28o under the sun light but not direct from
the sun light, should have something to cover such as veil etc.
“Life span” All betta fishes can be live around
1-4 years the age can be breed are above 3months. One betta females can produce
around 300-500 fry.
