Betta Breeding
How to identify Betta males and females?
Betta Males: Mouth up, Clear and brighter color, long-slim body and longer
beard, some Betta male has long tail and no white spot egg. The Betta males
always make a lot of bobble nest when they are ready for breeding.
Betta Females: Mouth a bit down, blue color, fat-short body and shorter
beard and it has white spot egg. We also can see the eggs inside their abdominal.
How to pairing the Betta?
We can be pairing the Betta by choosing one Betta male and one Betta
female
The Betta males will make bobble nest when they are ready for breeding and
the age above 3 months
Set up the breeding tank or container,
we also can put some plants inside.
Put some clear plastic above the water
for Betta males to make their bobble and keep the eggs. Place your Betta male
in the tank then put Betta female in a small jar or plastic class place in the
tank with Betta male to introduce them each other.
Wait around 3-5 hours then you can
release your Betta female. Keep the pair together about 2 days after the Betta
female lay the eggs and remove the Betta female outside the tank.
Keep the Betta male to take care the
eggs and wait till the eggs has hatch.
How many days will Betta eggs are hatch? How many day Betta fry can eat?
What’s kind of food can we feed Betta fry?
Generally, the Betta’s eggs will be hatch around 2-3 days
For the first day hatch the Betta fry can’t eat any food please do not
feed them any food. Wait another day, after Betta fry can eat please feed them
and his father also. The Betta male (Father) also need the food for survive.
The best starter food for Betta’s fry is egg York. Egg York has a lot of
proteins to make fry grow.
Betta fry take care and How to clean up Betta fry’s tank?
Put sponge filter inside the tank
Feed them 2-3 times per day with Egg York or power pullet
Keep the water temperature around 26o-28o.
You also can remove the Betta male (Father) after fry age 10-14 days
Add some more moss, Water lettuce, and Water cabbage
After fry age around 15-30 days the best food for them is daphnia. Daphnia
has a lot of proteins inside and best food for fast grow your betta fry.
Age 2-3 months feed them some mosquito larvae or worm, Bloodworm, white
worm and some pullet food.
Take note how much they eat per day. Remember don’t overfeed them it is a
lots problem which cause to make Betta die.
Age above 3 months you can identify Betta males and females. It’s time to
separate them. You can’t place Betta males together; they will be fighting till
die.
Clean up and change water
about 40-70% if the water starts dirty, using the tool which can’t effect to
Betta fry such as:
- Hands pump cleaning Aquarium tank
- We can use coffee filter: Put it above the water and use hand pump

Water condition (Temperature): Betta fish can survive and healthy with 26o-28o
Quantity of water (Lite/Gallon): 1 gallon = 3.78541 liters, If you have only one Betta, you can put them with 2 liters is enough for them.
Environment: Betta can be place inside or outside the house on the table or bedroom or anywhere else. Betta fish also like sun light but shouldn’t put them get direct form sun light, we should have something to cover the tank such as veil or cover. It is the best idea if you put them in the tank with the plant. If you put your betta inside the house, please add some LED light to instead sun light. It is going to help your betta grow and healthy.

If you choose the pullet food to feed your betta, you should choose which food that content a lot of proteins.
Don’t overfeed your Betta, only twice times per day (one time in the morning and one time at the evening.
Clean up Betta tank if you see the water start dirty and you also can change 70% of water.
Betta Fish Type
Crowntail Betta: Is given named by Achmad Yusun Indonesian by their huge tail of the spikey crwon appearance of the fins.
Doubletail Betta: Named by their double tails of two distinct tails are separated from the base.
Halfmoon Betta: The tails are very large and flared to 180o because their tails display of the circle shape like a half moon.
Over-Halfmoon Betta: This Betta also have a large tail and flared over 180o. They will display the circle larger than the halfmoon tail.
Delta Betta: Their tails will be narrows to their body, widens towards and giving the triangular shape.
Super Delta Betta: It’s very similar to delta-tail betta but they just have the tail larger than and their fins can display around 120o-160o.
Half-Sun Betta: They are the result from mixed of the crowntail betta with the halfmoon betta. Their tail flared to 180o plus the slight of crowning on the fin’s ray and wedding.
Rose-tail Betta: The beautiful name is giving because of their beautiful tail seem like a rose and overlapping.
Feathertail Betta: This betta is very similar to rosetail betta but they have shorter tail and extra ruffles appearance.
Plakat Betta: Generally, term of Plakat betta is used to description short fins betta and it’s a traditional betta fish’s tail.
Halfmoon Plakat: Are similar to Plakat betta and their short tail can be flared to 180o.
Over-Halfmoon Plakat: It also similar to Plakat betta and Halfmoon Plakat. Theil short tail can be flared over to 180o.
Spade Plakat: If we say about Plakat betta fish that mean we known it has the short fins and this Spade Plakat are similar to the spadetail betta but it just shorter than.
Dumbo Ear Betta: This name is giving by their ear seem like elephant’s ear. Some of Dumbo ear has short and long fins.
Betta Breeding Story
Betta fish called as “The Siamese Fighting
Fish” or we have called “Plakat” which was found in the Mekong River that runs
through a number of countries in south-east Asia.
The Siamese
fighting fish or plakat is native/original from the Mekong River delta in
south-east Asia and although fish today can be found by naturally in Laos,
Myanmar and Cambodia, it is originated from Thailand.
The Siamese
fighting fish or plakat named by Thai “ikan betta”, which means biting fish.
The Siamese fighting fish is known for its irritable temperament display to
other fish or smaller species of fish and often display very aggressive to any
other animals that it sees.
All the Siamese
fighting fish or plakat are small fishes but they will range under 8cm
considerably.
Betta fishes is
very easy to recognized due to its beautiful colors and bright, its body shape
and its behavior display. After 2-3 months we can identify which one is betta
males and which one is betta females.

Betta Males have long dorsal on the top, no
white eggs spot ventral and caudal fins longer than betta females.

spot ventral and caudal fins shorter than betta males (Betta females look not
so aggressive like betta males when display)

females (Betta females bright blue)

“Bobble nest” Betta males will make a lots of
bobble when they are ready for breeding (Some of betta females will also make
bobble but it’s not much)

females.
The “Diet” betta fish like to eat insects such as daphnia, mosquito larvae and worm are smaller than. They are also can eat pullet food but if you choose to feed them with pullet food you should take note don’t feed them too much if not the water will be dirty and your fish also can sick.
Betta fish like
to live in water with 26-28o under the sun light but not direct from
the sun light, should have something to cover such as veil etc.
“Life span” All betta fishes can be live around
1-4 years the age can be breed are above 3months. One betta females can produce
around 300-500 fry.

Flowerhorn Breeding Story
Flowerhorn fish is a hybrid fish first start in Malaysia. Flowerhorn fish are ornamental aquarium fish that we can noted by their vivid colors, sign/mark and the distinctively shaped of their heads for which they are named: head protuberance or kok, is formally termed a nuchal hump.
They are become the popular in Asia. They are also kept by hobbyists in the US and Europe. Now-day Flowerhorn are developed in my country such as Malaysia, Thailand and Taiwan and some more country such as US, America and Cambodia as the keeper or breeding.
